Kris Ann Valdez is an Arizona-based journalist, editor, food columnist and children’s author. She serves as editor of Queen Creek City Lifestyle and writes the weekly food column for DiningOut Phoenix. As a freelance journalist, her work has appeared in national publications including Business Insider, Fast Company, Parents, Good Housekeeping, Travel + Leisure, Fodor’s, AFAR and others. She is also the author of the middle-grade novel Nathaniel and the Worst Project in the History of the Fourth Grade, written under the pen name Ann Val.

Outside of reporting, she enjoys hiking the Sonoran Desert, raising three children and publishing The Guide Girl, a monthly Substack that helps writers discover publication opportunities.
